OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING
MR. JASON RANDOO
Mr. Jason Randoo, Chief Executive Officer at Virginia University of Lynchburg, died early Monday morning on June 15, 2020.
Mr. Randoo was appointed Chief Operating Officer on October 14, 2016. In this capacity, he has had the primary responsibility for assisting VUL President, Dr. Kathy C. Franklin, in maximizing the university’s operating performance and achieving its strategic goals and objectives.
In addition, Mr. Randoo has served VUL as a point person on university-wide diversity and inclusive excellence initiatives. Moreover, Jason with “Dragon Pride” served as the incredibly gifted coach of the VUL Men’s Soccer Team.
Although the news of Jason’s death has been extremely sad and shocking, we are comforted by the large outpouring of positive reflections we have received about his life, lessons, and legacy. Amid an abundance of correspondences from around the country, Jason Randoo has been described by his colleagues, students and friends as “transformational”. He is being remembered as tremendously energetic, full of life, a hard worker, and amazingly dedicated to advancing Virginia University of Lynchburg. In fact many recall hearing Jason making this statement, “I am absolutely determined to do my part to make VUL the best institution of higher education in the country.” To this end, we can all agree, Jason challenged us to give our best to make VUL “the best”. He will be greatly missed.
With this in mind, the entire board of trustees, administration, staff, faculty, alumni and student body of Virginia University of Lynchburg express our condolences to the family of Mr. Jason Randoo.
