Doctor of Healthcare Administration

The fully online Virginia University of Lynchburg (VUL) Doctor of Healthcare Administration degree is designed for professionals interested in leadership roles in education and/or clinical practice. The module-based curriculum is self-paced for students to enter into the program at any one of three starting points in the academic calendar.

This program is to prepare health professionals to be leaders in healthcare by acquiring skills as educators, administrators, members of research teams and advocates for best practice. Through our program, students will be given the opportunity to critically evaluate and learn from literature, extending their knowledge to better serve their customers. They will also gain the business acumen to move into positions of leadership within their institutions or clinics.

Admission Requirements


  • A bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree (if any) in a related discipline awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by US Department of Education.
  • Official transcripts prior institution from which a degree was earned

  • Applicants are required to participate in a phone interview with the Admissions Committee

  • Virginia University of Lynchburg Application
  • Official transcripts from every school attended
    • World Education Services (WES) or equivalent evaluation for any foreign coursework
    • International applicant is required to take and submit official score reports from English proficiency testing: the TOEFL-Test of English as a Foreign Language (both the internet-based TOEFL iBT test and the paper-delivered TOEFL test are accepted).
  • Two recommendation letters or phone interview
  • Writing Sample
    • Publications authored by the applicant as first or second author in peer-reviewed publications

Graduation Requirements


  • For the Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) degree, student must earn at least 36 hours of credit, of which all must be at Virginia University of Lynchburg. Students must complete the curriculum requirements with a grade of "B" or higher.

Completed application and all supporting documents must be received by:
