Dr. Robert R. Jennings

Dr. Robert R. Jennings, Professor of Business and Management., was named the tenth president of 130-year-old Alabama A&M University in January 2006,  Previously, Dr Jennings served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Future Focus 2020, Babcock Graduate School of Management, Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N. C.

Dr. Jennings earned the B. A. degree from Morehouse College, and a M. A. degree, Ed.S. degree, and a Doctor of Education degree in educational administration and policy studies at Clark Atlanta University.  In 1978, Dr. Jennings served as a Fulbright-Hays Fellow assigned to the Institute of Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil.

In his capacity at Future Focus 2020, Jennings was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of an agency dedicated to engaging minority communities in a national discussion about the future, and to identifying the significant social, technological, economic, environmental, and political trends and events that will have greatest impact on such communities by the year 2020.

Dr. Jennings served as an adjunct professor and grant coordinator for the School of Education, Atlanta University Graduate School, and was subsequently an associate professor at Morris Brown College.  He has also served as a dissertation advisor and an adjunct professor for the Union Graduate School in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He later served as Executive Vice President to the President for Institutional Development and Alumni Affairs at Atlanta University.

His other higher education positions include:  Vice President for Development and President of the Foundation, Norfolk State University; Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Albany State University; and Vice Chancellor for Development and University Relations, North Carolina A&T State University. 

Dr. Jennings’ contributions to governmental agencies include stints as a Loaned Executive to the Office of the Administrator, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C.; Equal Opportunity Specialist and Employee Development Specialist and Lead Trainer, U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  In1999, he represented the U. S. Embassy and U. S. State Department as a consultant/trainer at the University of Naimey in Niger, Africa. His international experience has also included Europe, Africa, South and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, and the Middle East in the past 35 years.

Dr. Jennings has received over a dozen national and regional awards for his service to education. and has been listed in a wide array of national and international directories, including:  Who's Who Among Black Americans, Who's Who in Executives & Business, Who's Who in the South, etc.
